Training Using Drama takes development techniques from theatre and improvization and applies them to the workplace. Including 50 detailed activities, the book shows how to use storytelling, role-plays and coaching to improve creativity, leadership, teamwork and personal development.

The use of training techniques originally developed for theatre and improvisation within the workplace has increased enormously in recent years and the proven effectiveness of the approach is finding many enthusiastic followers. Sometimes, actual actors are brought into an organization to act as catalysts within a training/role-play setting, but, increasingly, trainers themselves are using the techniques.

Written by an expert in the field calling on her wide business, training and acting experience, this highly practical guide shows clearly how anyone can make use of these techniques easily and effectively. With information on the background theories and principles of using drama in training, the book also includes 50 detailed activities and shows how to use a range of diverse techniques to improve creativity, leadership, teamwork and personal development. Subjects covered include:

  • storytelling;
  • role-plays;
  • coaching;
  • non-verbal communication;
  • spontaneity;
  • trust and awareness.
