Does your design achieve creative engagement? - Design Management Press Release
23rd October 2017 - Design Management, The Essential Handbook
Does your design achieve creative engagement?
Design Management is, quite simply, the essential handbook to all things design. As the discipline continues to change, responding and adapting to the dynamics of social and business transformation, the need to understand design theory and practice, and fostering a climate of creative engagement are crucial.
Now offering a holistic view that goes beyond individual project-level implementation, Design Management, the new book by Dr David Hands, allows readers to explore the transformation of design as a business function and apply it to any organizational context or vision.
Meticulously researched, the book is structured around four key universal perspectives – values, horizons, visions, and futures – to deliver a complete overview of the development, key issues and future of design management, and the techniques required to design more effectively.
Packed with vibrant case studies and guest perspectives from industry leaders, Design Management explores design strategy at both organizational and macro levels, providing invaluable real-world commentary on the role of design as a key asset for any organization.
Accompanied by a valuable toolkit of downloadable resources, this book will provide both students and practitioners with a deep understanding of the nuances, scope and scalability of design.
CAI Jun, Professor, Academy of Arts & Design / Director of Design Management Research Lab, Tsinghua University described the book as ‘a powerful handbook that every innovator in design business needs to read', while Rachel Cooper OBE, Distinguished Professor: Design Management and Policy, Lancaster University, UK, praised the way it ‘blends well documented research and a wonderful array of international case studies that clearly illustrate the value of design to the organisation, regardless of industry and commercial sector.’
