The London Book Fair (LBF) has announced the Quantum: Inspiration, Informed by Data conference keynote speakers, who include digital transformation commentator Tom Goodwin, Hachette’s David Shelley and actor and narrator Adjoa Andoh.

Quantum conference, Monday 9 April 2018, in partnership with Nielsen Book, is being chaired by Matt Haslum, publishing consultant and former Marketing Director at Faber & Faber, and it will reveal exclusive new research by Nielsen Book.

Tom Goodwin is an industry provocateur and commentator on the future of marketing and business and has been voted as a top 10 voice in Marketing by LinkedIn for 2017 and 2018. He is the author of Digital Darwinism (Kogan Page), publishing April 2018, which focuses on digital transformation, disruption and change.

Actress Adjoa Andoh will be in conversation with Lorelei King, multi award-winning narrator of audiobooks and co-founder of the digital publishing company, Creative Content Ltd. They will discuss the value of narration to audio and particularly how to work with international texts. With audio publishing taking centre stage, the second half of the day at Quantum 2018 will be solely focussed on audiobooks, spanning audio rights, evolving business models, and marketing and creativity.

Other Quantum 2018 speakers include Rebecca Smart, Ebury Publishing, Michele Cobb, Audio Publishers Association US, and Abigail Bergstrom, Gleam Futures.

Tom Goodwin, Executive Vice President and Head of Innovation at Zenith Media USA, and author of Digital Darwinism said: “I am delighted to be speaking at the Quantum Conference in April. It is common knowledge now that if businesses want to succeed in their industry then they should understand how to adapt and must acknowledge what to embrace and ignore in the post-digital age. I’m really looking forward to delving in to this and listening to some of the other speakers throughout the day.”

Orna O’Brien, Conference Manager at LBFcommented: “I am thrilled to announce this line-up of provocative and forward-thinking speakers. These keynotes will provide Quantum 2018 delegates with starting points for a fascinating discussion about future trends in marketing, how AI will impact business, emerging trends in publishing and the growth of audiobooks: this conference will be a hotbed of ideas. Quantum remains unique in publishing, due to its international outlook, and the audio keynote reflects this with focus on international writing. Nielsen Book will again be at the heart of the conference with the latest market insights underpinning all sessions."

2018’s Quantum conference will cover a wide range of themes including: consumer dynamics, influencer marketing, new creative talent and competition from the wider creative industries, channels for increased sales, audio publishing, and key industry trends.

Delegates can attend the full programme and benefit from a packed programme of global publishing voices, inspiration, motivation, and case studies, or attend the afternoon audiobook session. A Quantum ticket also provides free entry to The London Book Fair, 10 to 12 April 2018. Ticket prices start at £249 for a full day, and are available from http://quantum.londonbookfair.co.uk/entry.

ABOUT QUANTUM

The London Book Fair’s popular Monday Conference has been running, in various guises, for nine years. It is a truly global event with attendees and speakers representing over 25 different nations annually.

As the important precursor to LBF, when the world’s Publishing community descends on London, in numbers over 25,000, it has been described as ‘the accelerator’ to the Fair, informing and igniting the many debates that continue in more depth on the show floor, on the subsequent three days.

The focus is predominantly on trade publishing, as there are sister conferences taking place during LBF on scholarly and education publishing. Now titled Quantum, it attracts all those keen to keep abreast of what’s happening in the global industry, to see how others are tackling the current challenges, to hear voices unheard before at publishing conferences, to learn about new audiences, markets, channels and talent, network with global colleagues, and to be motivated and inspired. Typical attendees work in publishing, marketing, consultancies, digital agencies, trade associations, PR, rights and licensing, and more.
