About the Author
Brian Spence qualified as a chartered accountant with Coopers & Lybrand, London, (now Price WaterhouseCoopers) in 1977. Throughout his time with Coopers & Lybrand, he was engaged on large PLC audits.
He joined Thomson Morley Jackson & Co, a predecessor firm of BTMR Limited, in 1990 with the brief of improving the quality of audit work undertaken for small privately owned companies, and he very soon developed an interest in forensic accounting.
Forensic accounting is now his specialist area, and he has dealt with a wide range of criminal and civil cases including fraud, matrimonial disputes, shareholder and partnership disputes, business valuations for commercial and tax purposes, personal injury and fatal accident cases. He has been cross-examined in court on several occasions.
He is a member of the Academy of Experts, a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a member of the Network of Independent Forensic Accountants.
